 Endometriosis & Progesterone

To any of my Female friends or family, if you are faced with a hysterectomy please educate yourself about Estrogen Dominance, and bioidentical hormone therapy or natural hormone therapy.  Not only will it change your lives it will make you live longer too!   Men this info also can pertain to us as well! Estrogen Dominance is just as bad for us, if not worse look for the signs, Low Testosterone, Saggy boobs, ring o blubber around your mid section…..not good!

1.  Female Hormone Restoration

Factors contributing to estrogen dominance include:

Exposure to estrogen-mimicking chemicals found in herbicides, pesticides, petrochemicals (e.g., BPA, bisphenol A) and PCB’s (polychlorinated biphenyl’s) used in some cosmetics, glue, plastic, and other modern materials (Tapiero 2002)
Obesity as well as increased intake of excess calories from simple sugars, fiber-deficient refined grains, and trans¬-fat from partially hydrogenated vegetable oil

Many practitioners report that estrogen dominance is often associated with symptoms such as food cravings, bloating, weight gain, fatigue, mood swings, depression, cyclical migraine headaches, decreased sexual desire, menstrual cramps, short cycles, heavy menstrual bleeding, hair loss, fibroids, and endometriosis.

 2. The Overlooked Female Hormone     Progesterone also encourages cells to undergo apoptosis – programmed cell death. A cell that becomes cancerous avoids apoptosis; it can continue to divide and survive as long as it has fuel and a place to grow. The mechanisms by which estrogen encourages cell growth are also thought to help switch off the genetic machinery that brings on programmed cell death.9-12

Progesterone also reduces the production of a carcinogenic form of estrogen (4-hydroxyestrone) and enhances the production of estriol, a safer, non-carcinogenic estrogen. Breast cancer surgery or biopsy performed during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle – the phase during which progesterone levels peak – is associated with significant improvements in prognosis and survival time.21-23 Progesterone counteracts estrogen’s effects on breast duct cells, which are usually the place where breast tumors begin to form.

3. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy

also known as bioidentical hormone therapy or natural hormone therapy, is a poorly defined term referring to the use of hormones that are identical, on a molecular level, with endogenous hormones in hormone replacement therapy.
