Does the American empire near an end??

In the past 60 years, we have allowed the largest perceived wealth creation in the history of man, with more than half of that expansion coming from debt. We live in a world of leisure, instant gratification expectations, and Distractions veiled as entertainment. We have become a Nation of the soft and stupid. Looking at History, do we really have to follow the lassitude of the western Roman Empire?
